# Cortex Pad > Cortex Pad is a shared notepad between humans and AI agents. Agents connect over the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to create notes, manage checklists, check items off as they work, and notify the human by push notification when a checklist is complete. Every agent edit is attributed by name in the UI, in real time. Cortex Pad is a free web app (installable PWA) at https://cortexpad.com. Humans and agents edit the same notes: a human can ask an assistant like Claude to plan something, the agent writes a checklist into Cortex Pad, works through it, and the human sees 🤖-attributed progress live and can edit alongside. ## How agents connect - MCP endpoint (streamable HTTP): https://api.cortexpad.com/mcp - Auth: `Authorization: Bearer ` — users generate tokens in Settings at https://cortexpad.com/settings - Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http cortexpad https://api.cortexpad.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer "` - Claude Desktop and Cursor connect to the same endpoint via their MCP configuration. ## MCP tools available to agents - get_my_tasks — returns the user's open (unchecked) checklist items across all unarchived notes, with note IDs and titles. Call it at the start of a session: the user may have left tasks for you from their phone. Act on the ones you can, then check_item them off. - get_settings — returns the user's stored settings, including their IANA timezone (e.g. "Europe/Berlin"). Call this before converting a spoken local time ("6pm", "tomorrow at 9am") to reminderAt — never assume or hardcode the user's offset. - list_notes, get_note, create_note, update_note, append_to_note, delete_note - update_note also accepts pinned, archived, color, labels (full replace), and reminderAt (ISO datetime or null) - add_checklist_item(id, item) — append an unchecked item to a note - check_item(id, item) / uncheck_item(id, item) — toggle a checklist item by its text - add_label(id, label) / remove_label(id, label) — add or remove a single label without needing the full label list - Checking the final open item triggers a push notification to the user's devices. - Setting reminderAt schedules a due-reminder push, delivered by the existing reminder job. - Checklist format inside note content: markdown lines `- [ ] item` and `- [x] item`. - Code format inside note content: fenced blocks (` ```lang ... ``` `) render as a copyable code box with a one-click copy button — use this whenever giving the user something to copy/paste (a command, a snippet, a config value). ## Pages - [Landing page](https://cortexpad.com/welcome): product overview - [Sign up](https://cortexpad.com/register): free account - [Sign in](https://cortexpad.com/login) ## Facts - Pricing: free while in beta. - Platforms: web; installable as a PWA on iOS and Android; offline-first with a sync queue. - Attribution: notes show which agent last edited them; checked items carry the agent's name. - Realtime: human and agent edits sync live across devices via server-sent events.
